Description
As contribution to the recent update of the European Strategy for Particle Physics, the Linear Collider Vision team reviewed linear e+e− colliders with a special focus on high center-of-mass energies and beam polarization, took a fresh look at the various accelerator technologies available or under development and, for the first time, discussed how a facility first equipped with a technology mature today could be upgraded with technologies of tomorrow to reach much higher energies and/or luminosities. Alternative collider modes as well as beyond-collider experiments and R&D facilities have been identified as additional opportunities at a linear collider facility.
This talk summarizes the Linear Collider Vision approach, and presents the status of work towards a linear collider as alternative project for CERN, for the case that the construction of FCC-ee turns out not to be feasible.
It heavily builds on decades of achievements of the global linear collider community, in particular in the context of ILC, CLIC and C3, and recent highlights of the projects will also be presented.
