Staying and Living in the Fermilab Village

Interns will be staying in one of the houses or dorms in the Fermilab Village.   Housing costs will be paid directly by Tougaloo College -- interns will not need to make any payments.

You can find information in the Fermilab housing webpage (https://get-connected.fnal.gov/housing/) and in the "village residents guide" linked from that page (https://publicpoint.fnal.gov/get-connected/Shared%20Documents/Documents/Village%20Resident%20Important%20Information.pdf).

Guest and Personal Visitor Access to the Fermilab Village

You’ll see in the guide linked above that village residents can request approval for guest access from the Campus Access office.  If approved,  “Personal Visitors” are allowed to come to the village for the day (but not stay overnight), while “Authorized Guests” (including domestic partners) are allowed to stay overnight.  We can help you request access after you arrive.

Food / Grocery Options

There is a cafeteria in the main building where interns will work each day (Wilson Hall).  The cafeteria is convenient for breakfast and lunch on weekdays until 2:30pm, but not dinner.

The houses and dorms have fully equipped kitchens. For transportation to the grocery store 1.5 miles from the village, most residents walk, find a ride with a fellow village resident, have food delivered, or take an Uber. Residents can bring bicycles to the village, as well, helmets are required onsite. The route makes for a pleasant walk (if residents are able).

Bed and Bath Linens

Houses are fully furnished with bed linens and towels are included for house residents, but you are welcome to bring anything specific you would like.

Transportation to/from the Village

There is a shuttle provided by Fermilab. USCMS PURSUE 2025 has paid for extended shuttle hours (beyond the posted hours which ends at 4pm) at 5:30pm through the whole program to transport interns from Wilson Hall back to the FNAL village on weekdays.

Repairs:

There is a notice by the landline phone with information regarding what to do.  I will double check it is there tomorrow.  The residents can email Workcentral@fnal.gov for any minor repairs.  If there is an urgent repair (no heat, toilet overflow, tub back up, etc.) the can call “0” from the house phone or +1-630-840-3414 from a cell phone the is a duty mechanic available after business hours for emergencies.
