DRD7 annual workshop
The DRD7 collaboration unites numerous international research institutes and laboratories to push the boundaries of electronics technology for particle detection. The goal of DRD7 is to strengthen research partnerships, pool resources, and drive technological advancements that will help tackle the challenges of future scientific experiments. By adopting open development practices and facilitating the sharing of intellectual property, DRD7 enhances the efficiency and capability of all participants.
The work of the collaboration is organized in seven work packages, each targeting specific technical objectives aligned with strategic priorities.
• WP7.1: Data density and power efficiency
• WP7.2: Intelligence on the detector
• WP7.3: 4D and 5D techniques
• WP7.4: Extreme environments
• WP7.5: Backend systems and COTS components
• WP7.6: Complex imaging ASICs and technologies
• WG7.7: Tools and Technologies
The workshop will start with a full day of parallel sessions (on Tue 23 Sep) where work package contributors and observers are invited to meet and discuss detailed technical aspects of their work. It will continue with seven plenary sessions over four half days (from Wed 24 Sep to Fri 26 Sep) where the results of each work package are summarized and presented to the full community. In addition, on the afternoon of Thu 25 Sep, the DRD7 Collaboration Board will meet to address several points of importance to the formal life of the collaboration.
Physical attendance to the DRD7 workshop is strongly encouraged.
If you plan to attend in person, please register to help us organize the event and make it pleasant and comfortable for all participants. Access cards can be requested as part of the registration process.
Welcome to the DRD7 annual workshop !

Virtual Prototyping Forum
This forum will focus on the development of a complete end-to-end simulation chain for advanced detector systems — from particle–sensor interaction to final detector readout. The goal is to share ideas, identify challenges, and propose new features that can strengthen virtual prototyping as a design and R&D tool.
The discussion is structured into key domains but remains open to new categories and contributions.
Topics include:
- Sensor design (TCAD/Synopsys): inclusion of n-wells in 3D maps to better model charge collection [1][2].
- Charge deposition & collection (Allpix2): coupling with electrical simulations via the new NetlistWriter module [3]; next step is exporting results to .root files.
- Readout electronics (PixESL):
1 - Support for asynchronous architectures (Octopus, Manta).
2 - libAPX library for efficient Allpix2–PixESL data exchange (.apx format, reading functions in development).
3 - Guide for analog front-end modeling. The discussion will also highlight open issues and priorities to strengthen virtual prototyping workflows across communities.

RadTol eFPGA forum
We invite you to join a dedicated forum on radiation-tolerant embedded FPGAs (eFPGAs). The goal is to assess whether there is sufficient community interest and expertise to launch a collaborative project in this area.
Discussions will cover potential use cases, design and verification challenges, rad-tolerance techniques, and integration into larger SoC or system designs.Your input will help determine whether a RadTol eFPGA project can be initiated, and what its scope should be.

RadTol RISC-V forum
This forum will focus on methodologies and challenges in developing radiation-tolerant RISC-V SoCs. Each topic will be discussed for 30-45 minutes, based on questionnaires and optional slides submitted in advance. Topic conveners will prepare short introductions to frame the discussion.
Agenda:
SoC Design – architecture choice, use of generators, and toolchain aspects.
Radiation Tolerance Techniques – approaches for core, memory, and interconnect robustness.
Verification – core-level and environment verification, fault tolerance validation, and emulation (e.g., FPGA).
The aim is to identify promising techniques, share best practices, and guide collaborative progress on rad-hard RISC-V solutions.
