Description
Neutrinos can experience more than the MSW effect when they travel through an elliptically polarized oscillating background: ultralight vector dark matter. This is analogous to the Landau–Zener–Stückelberg–Majorana effect. We show that Majorana neutrinos convert into antineutrinos in such a background coupled to lepton number, e.g., the gauge boson of $U(1)_{B-L}$. The conversion is suppressed by the small neutrino mass, but enhanced by long astrophysical baselines. We find that with observations of solar and supernova neutrinos, the sensitivities can go beyond those of other future probes of $U(1)_{B-L}$.
