The Training School will be complemented by a social programme designed to encourage interaction and networking among participants. The programme will include:
- a half-day excursion to Sremski Karlovci (on Sunday, 27 September); and
- the Training School dinner (date to be announced).
In addition, there will also be a set of associated public outreach events taking place during the Training School in Belgrade, including the public lectures and science cafes in Belgrade.
Sremski Karlovci excursion
The half-day excursion to Sremski Karlovci, one of Serbia’s most picturesque historic towns and a renowned wine-producing region on the slopes of Fruška Gora, will include:
- transportation by modern tourist coach;
- the services of a professional English-speaking guide;
- a guided visit to a local winery, the Museum of Beekeeping, and a historic underground wine cellar (“wine lagum”);
- an introduction to the rich winemaking tradition of the Fruška Gora region;
- a tasting of seven wines and three varieties of honey;
- a traditional tasting platter including smoked pork loin, smoked pork neck, kulen (traditional spicy dry sausage), local cheese, olives, and freshly baked traditional bread.
