Date and Place		The 37th CERN School of Computing will be held at the University of Minho, Braga from Monday 25th of August to Friday 5th September 2014 (1) (1) Students will have to arrive on the Sunday 24th August and leave on the Saturday 6th of September 2014.

Participation		The School is open to postgraduate students and research workers with a few years' experience in elementary particle physics, in computing or in related fields. The number of participants will be limited to 60 Applicants. They may come from CERN Member States as well as from other countries. Personal contacts and informal discussions among the participants during leisure time are an important aspect of the School. For this reason, participants are asked to note that they should not be accompanied by family members or friends.
Site details		The school (tuition) will take place on the campus of the Minho University. Map of the Campus Note: Smoking is banned in all in-door areas of the campus

Rooms		Participants will be lodged in comfortable double rooms (they will share the double room with a schoolmate) Rooms are provided with towel, hair dryer and iron. WIFI is available in the room and in the lobby area Beware that electricity outlet and receptacle use the F standard 220V	Type F Socket
Hotel facilities		Facilities include outdoor and indoor swimming pool, fitness and shops.
Sport		During the school, you will have the opportunity to practice different sports such as Tennis, Badminton, Climbing, Canoeing, Swimming, Football but also indoor sport activities Bring your own racket for Tennis Swimming costume Shoes and sport wear for indoor activities Hiking shoes for outdoor excursion Sport shoes that will get wet if you participate in the canoeing excursion
Registration	Participants should reach the Hotel Melia Braga for on-site registration during the afternoon or early evening of Sunday, 24th of August 2014. Registration will take place in the hall of the Hotel from 14:00 to 19:00 For any late arrival, please inform Yasemin before Sunday 24th August 2014. Participants should note that lunch on the day of arrival (Sunday 24th of August 2014) is not provided, but the dinner is. The School will end on the morning of Saturday 6st September 2014, after breakfast.
Travel arrangements	Participants are on their own to organize their travel to and from the school location. DETAILS ON THE WAY TO GET TO BRAGA AND MELIA HOTEL The school does not organize travel tickets for participants PORTO AIRPORT - BRAGA Once you get to Porto Airport, you can catch the following transports to Braga: Train/Metro Catch the Metro to Campanhã Station or São Bento Station and then get a train to Braga. Duration: 2h00 Price (aprox.): 5€ Metro Train Bus transfer Direct transfer to Braga from Porto Airport and vice versa, it works every day. Fee: What it covers	The total fees of the School is € 1200 per participant. The total fee of the school covers: Tuition and handouts Accommodation including breakfast and dinners in the Melia Braga Hotel from Sunday, 24th of August to the breakfast on Saturday 6th of September 2014. Lunches, and two daily coffee breaks on the campus from Monday 25th of August to Friday 5th of September 2014. All organized social activities (sport, excursions, special dinners ...) of which details will be given at a later time. Participants should note that lunch on the day of arrival (Sunday 24th of August 2014) is not provided, but the dinner is. The School will end on the morning of Saturday 6th September 2014, after breakfast. Note on meals: Participants are warned that all regular lunches and diners will have a common, buffet-style, menu. There will be no a-la-carte facility. It will not be possible to accommodate special dietary restrictions.
Fee: What it does NOT cover	The fee does not include travel expenses from the participants' working place to the Braga Melia Hotel and back. Participants arriving before Sunday evening 24th of August or leaving after Saturday 6th of September a.m. will be entirely on their own: the school will neither arrange for their accommodation nor will cover any cost associated to their extended stay. Any extra cost incurred during the stay (including private excursions, private expenses in the hotel and on the campus, private transport costs, private meals, ...) will not be borne by the school organization. Any cost incurred by a participant not following the official excursion or social programme (e.g. meal cost of a participant not attending an excursion which includes a meal) will not be borne by the school organization.

Subsidy and assiduity	The actual expenses per student exceed the total fees requested to participants. The difference between the actual cost and the total fee is borne by the school organization. Academic participants are therefore subsidized, and complete assiduity to the entire scientific programme is mandatory.

Candidates should ensure that not only have they completed the Web Application Form, but that a signed formal letter of reference (on formal headed paper from the applicant's institute/organization) from their supervisor or professor is uploaded on the registration site by the 2nd of May 2014 at the latest. In addition, a certification form must be filled in and signed by the applicant's supervisor or professor (and not by the applicant) and uploaded on the registration site by 2nd of May 2014 Note: applications are for the entire programme. It is not possible to register for one theme only.
Selection of participants	The number of participants is limited to 60. The selection of the participants will be made by the Selection Advisory Committee and participants will be informed of the outcome of their application by the end of June 2014.
Cancellation	The CERN School of Computing Advisory Committee reserves the right to refuse reimbursement of part or all of the fee in the case of late cancellation. However, each case of cancellation would be considered individually.
Replacement	In all cases of withdrawal or cancellation, whether last-minute or otherwise, the choice of a replacement, if any, will lie entirely with the Advisory Committee and not with the laboratory or institute where the withdrawing participant works.
Liability and Insurance	Participation in the CERN School of Computing and in all activities organized in the framework there of (whether by CERN or by third parties) is at the participant's own risk and neither CERN nor the third parties concerned accept any liability with regard thereto. Equipment and materials made available to participants during the CERN School of Computing are made available on an "as-is-basis" without any warranties express or implied. Their use shall be under the sole responsibility and at the sole risk of the participants. Participants shall be solely responsible and liable regarding their property and CERN shall have no liability in case of loss, theft or damage thereof. Participants shall ensure that, there shall at all times during the latter's participation in the CERN School of Computing be insurance cover against illnesses and accidents valid in the place of venue, and against disability and death resulting from illnesses and accidents of the participants. The participant shall hold CERN free and harmless from, and indemnify it for any cost or expense resulting from the situation where any part of the insurance cover detailed above is not in place.
Language	The working language of the School will be English. There will be no simultaneous translation. Participants should therefore have sufficient understanding of English to enable them to benefit from the School.
