We recommend to book your accommodation in or near the blocks surrounded by Kawaramachi-dori(street), Karasuma-dori, Shijo-dori, and Oike-dori in the downtown Kyoto.
The organizer will arrange a bus from/to this area to/from the campus. Hankyu Railway, which takes you to Katsura Station (the nearest station to the campus), runs under the Shijo-dori.
Recommended hotels include Kyoto Hotel Okura (deluxe), Royal Park Hotel The Kyoto (superior), Hotel Monterey Kyoto (superior), Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Sanjo (moderate), Hotel Vista Premio Kyoto (moderate), Kyoto Royal Hotel & Spa (moderate), and Hotel CO-OP Inn Kyoto (budget). Because some hotels seem not to sell their rooms at third-party booking sites widely in high seasons, it is worth calling the hotels directly. There are many other hotels in the area as well as near JR Kyoto Station, which is the one of the hubs of the public transportation. From JR Kyoto Station, you can reach the downtown by subway easily, though it is not in the heart of the city.
