Description
Hyku is a the result of the 30-month project, 'Hydra in a Box', funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services in the US. A partnership between the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA), Stanford University and DuraSpace, the project is nearing completion and will deliver a next-generation repository solution called 'Hyku'. Hkyu is built on-top of the existing Hydra framework, and benefits from all that is good about Hydra - the open and collaborative community, the shared codebase, and more.
What sets Hyku apart is that it has been designed to be a 'turnkey' solution, something that hasn't been possible with Hydra before. Significant work has also gone into support for deployment and hosting, enabling institutions or vendors (like us at CoSector) to easily deploy a repository or offer cloud hosting for multiple repositories, thereby further reducing the barrier for adoption.
This poster will showcase the features of Hyku and will show how it supports scholarly communications and open access within the context of wider collection management, for example through its flexible access controls and support for other types of content, such as images.
