Description
Detectors at synchrotron sources have always been a weak link, and continue to be
so today. Although there has been considerable improvement in the detectors and the
detector technologies used at storage rings, the development of the source
brilliance has been even more significant, thereby widening the gap between the
source and the detector performances. And short overview of the current situation
will be given. Followed by a more detailed presentation of ongoing and upcoming
detector developments. At the end an attempt will be made to give an analysis of
what investments are needed to develop and construct significantly improved
detectors.
