Description

Machine protection at ESS is focusing on the protection of investment and beam, aiming for very high beam availability towards the users. To achieve this goal, prediction of interlocks situations may be needed, avoiding beam stops. This predictive approach or just the interlocks situation detection, may imply the need of non-boolean (complex) computations in real-time with even safety critical constraints. We believe that PLCs are suitable candidates to fulfill this task and a PLC based HPC solution proposal will be presented and open for discussion
