29–31 Aug 2016
Château de la Tour, Gouvieux, France
Europe/Paris timezone

Practical info (venue, prices, directions...)

The meeting took place at the Château de la Tour, which was not really reserved for us on those few days.

The meeting started on monday 29/8 just before (or at) lunch and it ended on wednesday 31/8 after lunch. You kindly planned to arrive during monday morning and to leave after lunch on wednesday. If you wanted to extend your stay (in either direction) you had to kindly contact us.

Accommodation:

  • single room: 185 euros/day
  • twin room (shared with another participant): 145 euros/day
  • double room: 243.20 euros/day

These prices include the room, breakfast, lunch, dinner, all coffee breaks as well as the conference material. Each participant paid this directly to the Château.

It was also possible to come in for the day only, at the cost of 110 euros/day (covering coffee breaks, lunch and the conference material). However, we strongly discouraged this, since the purpose of the meeting is to bring people together for extended discussions in a convivial atmosphere.

How to get there and how to leave:

The Château is located in Gouvieux, about 50 km north of Paris and 30 km north of the Charles de Gaulle (CDG) airport, which is the point of entry that you should definitely prefer, if you fly in.

The precise address for Google Maps is "Chemin du Château de la Tour, 60270 Gouvieux, France". The GPS coordinates are 49°11'41.3"N 2°25'35.5"E.

From CDG airport: it takes about 30 minutes by taxi. We organized collective taxis for the participants at the following times:

  • wednesday 31/8, from the Château to CDG, departure: 14h00, 17h15

If you intended to take one of these, you kindly indicate so in the registration form. These schedules were preliminary and based on the arrival times of the most likely flights from Amsterdam and Stockholm. If some different ones were needed, you kindly informed us. These taxis were payed by the organization and we gave you a confirmation and all the details in due time. If you planned to take an individual taxi, you had to allow about 85 euros (which were at your charge).

Other information:

The Château sits within a park of about 12 hectares, which has also a short 'health trail'. There are extensive cross-bike circuits in the surroundings, and bikes are available. There is an outdoor pool, an indoor billiard, a tennis court and a pétanque ground, plus other amenities.

The Château is also very close to the town of Chantilly, which is famous for its own castle and the whipped cream.
