On Thursday afternoon, visits to both ST Microelectronics and the University of Malta Laboratories Tal-Qroqq Campus have been organised.

Buses will leave the Valletta Campus at 2pm and will return at 5pm. 

Visit to ST Microelectronics

ST Microelectronics is the largest high-tech company in Malta catering for half of the island’s export. It has been operational in Malta for 35 years and has grown into a world-class assembly and testing plant focusing on the most complex semiconductor devices. These include Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS), accelerometers, gyroscopes, pressure sensors, metal cap microphones, automotive chips and high precision integrated circuits. The visit will consist of a short introductory presentation of the company and a tour of the assembly and testing lines.

Visit to the University of Malta Laboratories Tal-Qroqq Campus

The University of Malta has recently upgraded its research labs through European Regional Development Funds (ERDF). The this tour will include a visit to the Microelectromechanical System (MEMS) labs, the Electronic Systems labs, the Material Ultra High Vacuum Characterisation, Testing and Processing Labs and the Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Labs.
