The training event co-organized by MCnet and HEPTOOLS, MC4LHC: from Parton Showers to NNLO, will be held at CERN the week 4 to 8 May, 2009. It is mainly for ESR and ER of the two Networks, as well as people from ARTEMIS. Students outside the networks are welcome with an upper limit of ~80 participants. The event will not be just a general introduction to the subjects, but it will try to focus on the developed tools and calculations, in order to provide necessary transfer of knowledge to the ER and ESR (primarily) as well as to other (mostly network connected) students. The format will be 3 or 4 main lectures per day, followed by discussion sessions (with possible presentations on specific topics). Topics will include: - Introduction to Partons Showers: PYTHIA, HERWIG, ARIADNE, SHERPA - Parton level generators: ALPGEN, HELAC, MADGRAPH, SHERPA - NLO matching: MC@NLO and POWHEG - NLO QCD recent developments: Rocket, Cuttools, Blackhat - EWK corrections - NNLO QCD - Experimental techniques for theorists
