Topics
The multidisciplinary nature of vacuum arcs and vacuum devices provides a rich environment for finding physics of shared interest from multiple sources. Topics to be covered include:
Experiments:
- vacuum arcs
- dc spark systems
- rf accelerating structures
- materials
- diagnostics
- techniques and technologies for high gradients
- arcing in fusion devices
Theory and simulations:
- Arc initiation and evolution
- Surface modification under electric and electromagnetic fields
- PIC and PIC-DSMC plasma simulations
- Dislocation activity
- Plasma-wall interactions
- Surface damage and evolution
- Cavity condition and evolution – pre and post breakdown
- surface modification under electric and electromagnetic fields
Applications:
- particle accelerators
- discharge-based devices
- electrostatic failure mitigation
- fusion devices
- satellites
- other industrial interests
See the programme for the previous workshops for other possible topics.
Scientific programme
The program will be divided to four sessions:
- Applications - materials and devices.
- Field Emission Theory and Experiments
- Modeling and simulations
- Experiments and Diagnostics.
The workshop will be preceded by a one day visit to the SARAF lab. Note that late registration will not be available for this tour.
We organized a bus to the lab from conference hotel. See details using the " Saraf visit" tab on the left.
Travel and accommodation
The meeting will take place at the Leonardo-Plaza Jerusalem. Leonardo Plaza hotel in Jerusalem. Rooms are reserved at a special rate , but must be reserved by January 20th. Please use the"Conference Hotel" tab to make reservations at the reduced rate by this date (Avoid ordering directly from the hotels web site or other external sites as this will be done at regular rates).
Flights: best option is to fly to TLV (Tel Aviv , Israel) 30 minutes by cab from the conference site. Note that flights should be arranged early due to high demand at his time of the year.
Since the bus to the lab visit will leave early sunday morning. We recommend to arrive to the conference hotel Saturday night - March 18 (or earlier).
Conference social program
The program will include poster session (Monday night), a tour of the old city (Tuesday - March 21), and a joint dinner.
On sunday night (after the Saraf visit) we will have the bus drop us for a few hours in Tel Aviv.
