Description
This lecture will present key statistical concepts and methods for multivariate data analysis and their applications in high energy physics.
It will discuss the meaning of multivariate statistical analysis and its benefits, will present methods for data preparation for applying multivariate analysis techniques, the generic problems addresses by these techniques and a few classes of such techniques. The applicability of these methods to pattern recognition problems in high energy physics will be demonstrated with examples from specific physics analyses.
