This school was first initiated and supported by the Franco-Thai Cooperation Program for Higher Education and Research under the project “Fundamental aspects of supergravity and string theory and applications to High Energy Physics and Cosmology”. The project involves two active teams in this field of research at the Physics department, Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand and at the Laboratoire de Physique Theorique (LPTHE) of CNRS and University Pierre and Marie Curie (UPMC) in Paris. The objectives of this international school are as follows: First, we aim to develop research and education related to theoretical high energy physics for Southeast Asian region. Second, to provide opportunities for students and young physicists in Thailand and nearby regions to meet with experts on theoretical high energy physics, and to engage with them through lectures, talks and informal discussions.

The school is organized by Chulalongkorn university via the "Chulalongkorn University Next-Generation Initiatives for Experimental High Energy, Elementary Particle, and Extragalactic Astrophysics Research Excellence program (CUNIVERSE)" and the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (Public Organization).
