    The AWAKE project has as goal the demonstration of electron acceleration with proton-driven plasma wakefield acceleration. This technology could allow for high energy eP and eA experimentation using the CERN complex of accelerators. A review of the AWAKE program will be presented, as well as the outlook for physics applications. The synergies with the LHeC project will be discussed.
