PS machine report (M. Fraser)

very good week, 98% up time. The new (lower losses) nTOF cycle will be put in production on 1/08.

SPS machine report (H. Bartosik)

very good week too.

T8: IRRAD & CHARM (G. Pezzullo): The irradiation of the DCDC converters is completed. 2 new setups have been installed (ATLAS ITK and ToTEM). J Bernhard: The IRRAD safety training will become mandatory for Irrad Access. The about 200 persons with Irrad access have been informed.

T9 ALICE FOCAL (N. Novitsky): See slides. Low and High granularity layers were tested. It was also the first use of the ALPIDE chip in a calorimetric application. More layer will be available for the tests in H8 in a week from now.

T9 PANDA (J. Schwiening):  See slides. 3 weeks of tests started. In addition to the barrel DIRC which was already in T9 last year, there will also be an Endcap DIRC disk, aiming for 3sd π/K separation up to 4GeV/c.

Increased number of North cycles will be profitable. Needs the hadron rich target.

T10 eAstrogam (F. Loparco): New scintillators & TRD detectors tested with 2 and 3 GeV/c electrons.

T10 ALICE (P. Marinengo) different ALICE users will use T10 for the coming 3 weeks.

T11 P439 (D. Grzonka): The detectors and DAQ have now been debugged, the data collection is starting. Increased number of north cycles is desirable.

H. Wilkens: from Aug. 2nd to 4th the road between b252 and b256 leading to the main door of the East Hall on the north side will be blocked.

nTOF: a number of long access are foreseen on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday next week.

H2 (A. Aduszkiewicz): Again a fast dump of VTX1 on Friday (fuse in cryo system). This time recovery was faster, the magnet was up on Saturday. A new RPC will be installed in the vicinity of the beam for parasitic DAQ test in the coming weeks.

H4 SHiP (E. van Herwijnen): See slides.  4e11 POT accumulated in 3 weeks. 43 shifters and experts participated. Preliminary results show higher muon production at small Pt than predicted by MC (~x1.6).

H4 GiF (M. Jaekel): 11 setups will participate in the upcoming run. There is room for only 8 to 9 in the beam. 6 are already installed, others will be installed next week. There will be a rotation of the setups to allow all tests to be performed. The temperature in the Hall reaches 28oC at the level of the gas racks. Please keep the big access doors closed when possible. Martin demonstrated the new EP/DT timber web interface, see link. EP/DT can provide configurations for the interested experiments/tests.

H4 RD51: E. Oliveri. RD51 will not use Goliath this run. There will be flammable gas (ethane) used in 2 setups.

H6 ATLAS & CMS. All OK. CMS telescope will be removed next week as DESY table needed for FOCAL in H8.

H8: eAstrogam (F. Loparco). The setup is installed. Current wobbling is positive. The polarity of Morpugo needs to be verified. Would the particles not be deflected to the left (to the wall) a wobbling change to the opposite polarity will be needed.

NA62 (S. Martelotti): See slide. The experiment has been hindered by huge spikes at the start of slow extraction. A dead time was introduced in the trigger to veto the first part of the cycle. H. Bartosik took note of this new feature and will investigate.

COMPASS (V. Andrieux): Lost target polarisation on Saturday. Some difficulties in reaching the picket and finding a spare parts. Polarisation lost again on Tuesday due to over temperature in the hall.

Supercycles, Wobbling , Target Intensities:

- Increase number of EAST-North cycles.

- Eventual polarity change H6/H8, t.b.c

Safety: A Desmarest: A memo is being drafted by management following the recent incidents in EHN1 (non respect of 1person-1key rule, and no eating the supervised area recommendation)

ISIECs should be submited at least a week ahead of the safety visit.
