Dark matter searches at the LHC typically look for large missing momentum in association with one or more Standard Model particles. These searches are classified by the choice of SM particle(s), which in turn determines the DM models that can be probed and experimental challenges that are faced. In this talk, I will describe searches for DM in three production modes: in association with a top quark, in association with a Higgs boson, and through the decay of a Higgs boson. While these probe very different DM models, they share many experimental techniques. In particular, I will focus on the use of precise theoretical predictions of SM vector boson production and the use of jet substructure to identify the decay products of boosted resonances.
