A series of workshops related to the use of Nb3Sn Rutherford cable in accelerator magnets has been launched by CEA and CERN.

The goals of this series are:

  • To share experience gained worldwide on:
    • Conductor dimensional changes during heat treatment
    • Mechanical characterization of impregnated cable
    • Effect of mechanical stress and strain on conductor performances
  • To set-up a best practice manual for the above topics
  • To state on relevant design criteria for accelerator magnets
  • To list the remaining problematics on above topics and define a development path to solve them.

After the first workshop held in Madrid in November 2017 (1st workshop website ), the 2nd workshop, organized jointly by CEA and CERN will take place in Paris at ESPACE SAINT MARTIN from 11 to 12 October 2018. This edition will focus on:

  • Jc dependence to stress/strain state
  • Material aspects/characterization of conductors
  • Coil fabrication technology

The Workshop is open to scientists and engineers involved in the development of Nb3Sn accelerator magnets worldwide.
The number of participants is limited to 70.

Registration is open.

The deadline for registration is Wednesday, 10 October 2018.

The Workshop organizers are delighted to invite the participants to a complementary Workshop dinner on Thursday 11 October in the center of Paris (restaurant Le Train Bleu). Please register in the registration form.
