WELCOME TO EXCITED QCD 2020!

!!! --> If you are coming to Kraków on Sunday 02/02/2020, please send a message (asap!) to robert.kaminski@ifj.edu.pl and write the arrival time. If we can group a dozen or so people at a similar time then we will organize a bus directly from the airport to the Pegaz hotel.
The 2020 edition of Excited QCD will take place from Feb 2 to Feb 8 2020 (i.e. our presentations start on Monday 03.02 and end on Friday 07.02), in a well-known spa, famous for its many mineral waters ski resort Krynica Zdrój in Poland. It is about 100 km to the east of the Tatra Mountains. The location is perfect for those who love winter sports, nature and very good food. The Pegaz Hotel, located very close to the ski slope (~100m) on the Jaworzyna Krynicka mountain (1114 m a.s.l.), will host the meeting.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
This edition is the twelfth in a series of workshops that had been previously organised in Poland (2009), Slovakia (2010 and 2015), France (2011), Portugal (2012, 2016 and 2017), Bosnia and Herzegovina (2013 and 2014), Serbia (2018) and Austria (2019).
The workshop covers diverse aspects of QCD:
(i) QCD at low energies: excited hadrons, new resonances, glueballs, multiquarks.
(ii) QCD at high temperatures and large densities: heavy-ion collisions, jets, diffraction, hadronisation, quark-gluon plasma, holography, colour-glass condensate, compact stars, applications to astrophysics.
Emphasis is placed on new developments in theory as well as the current experimental status. Scientific atmosphere, various discussions about different topics in QCD, active participation of many young researchers and a nice environment have been the main characteristics of the previous editions and also represented the goals for the new edition. The talks are all plenary, 20' long separated by 10' for discussions and with a coffee break of 30' every three or four talks for more discussions. An extended lunch break allows for longer discussions and for inspiring open-air activities.
VENUE
The meeting will take place in Krynica Zdrój, Poland, the most known health resort in Poland with famous mineral waters. Before the Second World War, it was a place of meetings and rest for well-known Polish actors and singers. Here is the current appearance of the old mineral water pump room in the city center:
To confer in silence, tranquility and near the ski slope we chose a hotel located not in the center of Krynica Zdrój but almost at the end of the road to the forest - about 5.5 km from the famous pump rooms in the center of Krynica Zdrój.
This hotel - Pegaz Hotel is placed at the foot of a ski resort only 2-minute walk from the nearest ski lift. The hotel guarantees comfortable rooms, very good cuisine (known and appreciated in Krynica Zdrój), swimming pool, spa, jacuzzi. In the picture at the top of the page you can actually see the ski slope and a glass wall of the hotel restaurant.

IMPORTANT: book your room ASAP
In accordance with the hotel's wishes, we please book and pay for accommodation as soon as possible. The hotel would like to have 30% of payments made by November.
For those who want to go skiing (or enjoy the city) more: One can reserve a few days before and after the conference. However, you should really do it as soon as possible because these days are not reserved for conference. February is the middle of the ski and winter holiday season.
The hotel has the following rooms:
- 8 single rooms (all these rooms are already occupied by the first who registered),
- 8 double standard rooms ,
- 28 superior double rooms
Prices are (with breakfast and lunch):
- single rooms: 75€ (these rooms are no longer available (see above)),
- superior double rooms: 60€,
- standard double rooms: 55€
If someone wants to use a double room alone then the prices are 110€ and 100€ respectively.
Important note: let us remember that the number of single rooms is very small and when we take up all these rooms, only double rooms will be available where two people will be accommodated (= we have to pay/occupy for all beds in these rooms). Details please fix with hotel staff (see below).
Postscriptum: taking into account the charms of this place and of the hotel maybe it would be nice to come there with an accompanying person?

HOW TO GET TO KRYNICA-ZDRÓJ:
1. from the Balice airport in Krakow to the MDA bus station: by suburban train (from the airport) or by 208 bus, driving time - about 45 minutes.
2. from the MDA bus station by bus to Krynica-Zdrój - buses are about 1/hour. Driving time: 2.5 - 3.2h
3. from the bus station in Krynica-Zdrój to the Pegaz hotel - information will be given later. Driving time - about 12 minutes.
