Accomodation, Food & Transport

To all the properly registered participants:

All the students, teachers and guests from outside CERN shall be greeted upon arrival on Sunday  29 August by Mr. Thomas Eisel (phone n° +4176 487 01 73). They will receive a folder containing:

- Badges that will allow you to attend the lectures and circulate freely on the CERN site;

- The Helium Week schedule;

- Food vouchers;

- A map of the CERN site;

- Geneva public transport tickets for the week and the bus schedule;

- A map of Geneva;

Those you will arrive on another day are requested to advise the organization (send mail).

Accomodation:

Rooms are available for all registrants at the CERN hostel, which is located right across from the main restaurant (#1) and at walking distance from the training center where the lectures will be provided (~15 minutes).

(See map)

All the rooms are already booked and the keys will be distributed upon your arrival. Most of the rooms are twins, so you may have to share with one of your colleagues. All rooms have showers.

Food:

All registrants will have food vouchers usable only at "restaurant #1"for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant is a self-service cafeteria and the voucher should cover for a decent meal with a beverage.

The restaurant is open from 7am to midnight on weekdays, but if you wish to have warm food you had better get there before 8pm.

Anyone who would like to have dinner somewhere else (in Geneva, for example) is free to do so. Nevertheless, they are required to return all the unused vouchers by the end of the week.

There are also some special events included to which you are invited:

- a welcome drink will be held before dinner on Monday;

- there will be a dinner with the Helium Week's sponsors' representatives at a restaurant close to CERN on Wednesday evening;

- a farewell barbecue will take place on Friday evening at CERN's french site (Prévessin)

Transport:

Buses will be organized for the Wednesday afternoon and evening, as well as for the farewell barbecue on Friday. All other trips, including the Geneva sightseeing visit, can be made on foot and/or using public transportation.
