City of Zurich

The city of Zürich lies in the heart of Europe and at the center of Switzerland, on the northern shores of Lake Zürich. Its multicultural flair and the variety of leisure activities on offer attract guests from all over the world to this “region of short routes”. Just a 10-minute train ride from the airport and situated right in the city center, Zürich’s Main Railway Station is a central European railroad hub. A total of 380,000 people from more than 160 countries live in Zürich. Thanks to its top-quality infrastructure set amidst natural surroundings, it is a popular place for study and research.

The workshop takes place at the modern ETH Zurich Hönggerberg Campus which is located on the outskirts of the city of Zurich. It is a perfect example of the links between science, industry and the general public. That is why it won the European Cultural Award for Science in 2010. The ETH Zurich Hönggerberg Campus is just 15 minutes from the city centre and 20 minutes from the airport. It can be reached by the Shuttle bus ETH eLink or by public transportations.
