Description
ALBA is a 3rd generation synchrotron of which there are currently ten operative beamlines: two in installation phase and two more in designing phase. LOREA, the 9th beamline installed and commissioned, is an Angle Resolved Photo-Emission Spectroscopy (ARPES) dedicated beamline, which is open for users nowadays. The optical layout of the beamline consists of a first flat horizontal deflecting mirror, an in-house developed Hettrick-Underwood monochromator, a horizontal plane-elliptic mirror which focuses horizontally 0.5m upstream the exit slit. The beam is vertically focused by the monochromator mirror at the exit slit plane. Finally, a Kirkpatrick-Baez pair of mirrors refocuses the beam on the sample. One of the challenges of the beamline is the fully in-house designed, assembled and aligned monochromator. The beamline ID was installed in July 2017 with the first beam at the sample position delivered in July 2021 and hosted the first official users in October 2021. Since the beamline initial alignment, there has not been needed any realignment of the optical components.
