Throughout the afternoon on Wednesday, 2nd November 2022, we are proposing a visit of several CERN installations. More information about the visit points are listed below.
If you (and your accompanying person) are interested in participating in these visits, please do not forget to register before Friday, 14th October 2022. Please kindly fill in one form per person.
Building 800
TT1
In this former beam line transfer tunnel, test installations for wire positioning systems and hydrostatic levelling systems are installed. The technically undisturbed environment provides excellent conditions to perform stability tests and carry out long-term validations of newly developed sensors.
SLB
Building 180
The building 180 is housing the Large Magnet Facility where at this moment the new superconducting magnets for the High-Luminosity LHC upgrade are build. The visit will introduce you to the coil production, the magnet assembly, the closure of the helium vessel up to the geometrical conformity controls of the final coldmass. In addition to this, a few traditional measurement methods like wire offset measurements will be shown.
Building 54 - Drone Atelier
Activity : from a drone to the orthoimage
The activity comprises a short demonstration of drone flight taking pictures of a limited area around the building 54 (outside in the weather conditions allow it) and the data processing in order to achieve an orthophoto plan (inside building 54). duration 30 mn. Max
ATLAS
