Student Sessions

In the vast field of hadron therapy, building a community is essential. The student sessions provide an opportunity for participants to discuss among themselves, with a variety of different topics.

The sessions will be performed via SpatialChat, a virtual proximity-based video software which prioritises connectivity and group-discussions.

You can find the link for the SpatialChat environment here:

This room will remain open during coffee breaks and lunch breaks for participants to discuss.

Joseph Bateman
University of Oxford

I am a second year DPhil. student at the University of Oxford and currently on a one year placement at CERN. I am researching methods for real-time dosimetry and beam monitoring of Very High Energy Electrons at Ultra-High Dose Rates for FLASH.
Cameron Robertson
University of Oxford
I'm in my second year of my DPhil programme at the University of Oxford, currently on a one year attachment at CERN. My research is based on beam optics and foil systems for the design of treatment lines for future Very High Energy Electron therapy machines.
   Kristaps Palskis
Riga Technical Univeristy
I am in my first year of PhD studies with Riga Technical university and CERN. I am working within the Next Ion Medical Machine Study (NIMMS) collaboration and currently working with studies of heavy ion beam effectiveness for ultra fast dose rate (FLASH) delivery from clinical perspective.
Rebecca Taylor
Imperial College London

I am a 2nd year PhD student with CERN and Imperial College London! I work with NIMMS, the Next Ion Medical Machine Study in designing new Slow Extraction techniques for Hadron Therapy and FLASH.
