La Curatrice della Memoria
Nel tempo breve di questa pièce di prosa e canto, la Curatrice della Memoria ci accompagna in un viaggio nel tempo e nello spazio non solo per farci conoscere le storie di quattro Scienziate del Novecento, ma anche per ricordarci che molte donne hanno contribuito alla Scienza e alla Società con la loro passione e il loro ingegno. Sono più di quante non ci sia stato raccontato nella narrazione della storia dell’umanità. Molte sono unite fra loro da legami di sangue, di amicizia e d’amore, o per affinità intellettuali e professionali. Una genealogia femminile che desidera essere reclamata ed agire nel presente.
Note di Regia
La pagina documentaria non possiede quasi mai il potere di restituirci il fondo di un essere umano: a questo scopo, più dello storico o dello psicologo sono idonei il drammaturgo o il poeta [Primo Levi].
Per raccontare le vite delle quattro scienziate, così intense sul piano scientifico e umano e così immerse nella storia del ‘900, è stato necessario trovare un equilibrio tra la pagina documentaria e la pagina poetica. Si è raggiunto attraverso il canto, che affianca la parola in un dialogo continuo, attraverso la scrittura di alcuni concetti scientifici in forma poetica e anche con i “vortici”, momenti musicali di parole e suoni che creano un ambiente sonoro alto e solenne. Così il racconto si espande e avvolge tutta la scena. Testo è parola, ma è anche musica, canto e movimento. Testo è la scenografia essenziale: cinque barre luminose che assumono significati differenti a seconda di come vengono agite dalle due interpreti. Alla fine della pièce esse vengono composte in forma di stella, elemento scenico potente, definita dall’artista Gilberto Zorio “figura ancestrale …agitata dal fluire delle forze”. La stella richiama le quattro donne-stelle, donne stellate, donne di conoscenza. E le quattro forze della Fisica, con una forza in più: quella nascosta delle donne.

Director's Notes
The documentary page almost never possesses the power to give us back the depths of a human being: for this purpose, the playwright or the poet are more suitable than the historian or the psychologist [Primo Levi].
To tell the lives of the four female scientists, so intense on a scientific and human level and so immersed in the history of the 20th century, it was necessary to find a balance between the documentary page and the poetic page. This is achieved through singing, which supports the word in a continuous dialogue, through the writing of some scientific concepts in poetic form and also with "vortexes", musical moments of words and sounds that create a high and solemn sound environment. Thus, the story expands and envelops the whole scene. Text is word, but it is also music, song and movement. Text is the essential scenography: five luminous bars that take on different meanings depending on how they are acted on by the two performers. At the end of the pièce they are composed in the form of a star, a powerful scenic element, defined by the artist Gilberto Zorio as an "ancestral figure ... agitated by the flow of forces". The star recalls the four star-women, starry women, women of knowledge. And the four forces of Physics, with one more force: the hidden force of women.
The Curator of Memory
In the short time of this play of prose and song, the Curator of Memory accompanies us on a journey through time and space not only to let us know the stories of four female scientists of the twentieth century, but also to remind us that many women have contributed to Science and Society with their passion and ingenuity. They are more than we have been told in the narrative of the history of humanity. Many are united by blood ties, friendship and love, or by intellectual and professional affinities. A female genealogy that longs to be claimed and to act in the present.
