Description
Energy-energy correlators and their three point counterpart have recently been of great interest to the heavy ion jet community as they directly provide the virtuality scale and are relatively simple to calculate. Recent measurements of the two point correlator in PbPb collisions compared to pp collisions by CMS show interesting trends, even when accounting for the energy loss causing a shift in virtuality. This talk will present results from a systematic Monte Carlo study using PYTHIA as a vacuum reference and adding ANGANTYR for the underlying event. This study highlights the impact of uncorrelated particles and how they can be removed via ensemble-based background subtraction. We then incorporate energy loss with various models (e.g. JEWEL and JETSCAPE) at RHIC energies to investigate the potential of disentangling the different in-medium effects within the ENCs. Finally, we include detector effects and discuss the feasibility of observing these medium effects at sPHENIX and STAR.
