Conference excursions

Preliminary timetable:

Excursion to Chania

The excursion to Chania will take place on Friday, July 25, 2025.  
Please take with you:  
   - Passport 
   - Hat, sun creme and sunglasses  
   - Comfortable walking shoes

Please see below the preliminary program of the excursion. You can join any of the events mentioned below if you like and/or take your free time. 

Excursion to Chania old town
15:30	Departure from OAC with bus to Chania. Participants living in hotels should come to OAC at 15:20.
16:30-17:30	Meet the guide in front of the Municipal Market of Chania (Agora Market) to visit the cathedral, the old town and port, the castle and the Phare of Chania (ca. 1 hour).
17:30-18:00	Free time for shopping and walk around in the old town.
18:00-19:15	Meet the guide in the Synagogue of Chania for:   18:00 Visit of the synagogue Etz Hayyim and a short historic talk about the history of Jews in Greece by Anja Zuckmantel and visit to the mini Museum of the synagogue. 18:20-18:45 Visit of the Jewish quarter "Evraiki" of the old town of Chania with a guide (Anja Zuckmantel). 19:00-19:15 Performance of Kalliopi Petrou (soprano) and Tommaso Dorigo (flute) in the Synagogue of Chania.
19:15-22:45	Free time (participants are free to choose their dinner place and pay their dinner at their own).
22:45	Bus departure from Chania to hotels and OAC.

Main Conference excursions

One conference excursion will take place on Sunday, July 27, 2025 and one on Sunday 20, 2025.Please take with you:  
   - Passport 
   - Hat, sun creme, and sunglasses  
   - Comfortable walking shoes

   - Towel and swimming suite (for July 27th).

The excursion of July 20, 2025 will go to:

•  Cretan Monasteries
  both men and women should dress modestly (shoulders covered, long pants for men –also acceptable for women, in case they have no knee length or longer dresses/skirts).

The excursion of July 27, 2025 will go to:

•  Phaistos, Gortyna and Malata (historical old places) - program TBA later
