Description

In spring 2024 the upgrade of the T2K off-axis near detector (ND280) was completed and, since then, the new detectors have been running stably. The upgrade includes two gaseous TPCs equipped with Encapsulated Resistive Anode Micromegas (ERAMs) to detect particles produced at high angles with respect to the neutrino beam.
During the construction phase, a spare half TPC was built for testing purposes, and it has been adapted to operate with a LASER as source of primary ionization. Straight LASER tracks were used for several studies, primarily to determine the ERAMs' space resolution; LASER tracks also provided a handle to map the distortions of the electric field inside the TPC. The results of these studies are presented.
