Description
Discharges and generation of short circuits were observed in CMS GEM detectors during the operation of the CMS magnet. To try to reproduce these phenomena in a controlled environment, a series of tests of GEM detectors in magnetic field have been performed at the CERN North Area. These tests have been fundamental to improve the safe operation of the detectors and shed light on how to improve the production and qualification of future GEM detectors.
