The meeting will take place at the University of Washington, a short trip from the Tacoma location of SciPy 2025!
Getting Around
Seattle has a full complement of transportation services. The city is defined by its water ways! While they provide some beutiful scenery, they do make getting around the city a bit more complex!
- We have both Uber and Lyft. Just be warned they are much more expensive here than almost any other city in the USA I've been to!
- Light Rail. You can easily load up an Orca card on yoru phone and tap to pay. The system is similar to what we see in Geneva - it works on honor. That said, they have been heavily fare checking in the spring - so make sure you've paid up. Light rail is especially nice as the same line accesses the conference site, downtown, and the airport.
- Bus System. Seattle has a pretty amaizing bus network. Google is very up to date.
Getting Here
Given how good google maps is, there is almost no need for a section like this!
- From Tacoma/SciPy.
- The bus, the 594, is probably the easist method. It leaves from walking distance fro the SciPy venue and will deposit you in Seattle downtown at a light rail station. Takes about 1:30.
- By car is most efficient. Use routing, it will get you to UW in about 45 minutes.
- By train is also not too bad. However, the connection isn't that easy. You will have to take a bus in Tacoma to get to the Sounder train station, and then walk about a block from the Seattle station over to the light rail.
- SEATAC
- This is the regon's international airport
- To get from to UW from there, there is light rail, Uber (expensive!), and shared van rides. Allow about 45-50 minutes for the travel time. A bit less by car.
- If you are coming from Canada (Victoria, etc.), then you can arrive by boat!
