Description

Preschool lectures: https://indico.cern.ch/event/1669123/

People are the key to successful software. The HSF-India project aims to promote the development of international research software collaborations. This is the 9th in a series of workshops for software and data analysis skills essential for doing research software in physics. Our curriculum builds upon the successful series of workshops.

This workshop covers

  • Applications of machine learning for scientific analysis
  • GPU algorithm development and scientific application development
  • Alpaka algorithm development for HL-LHC reconstruction for the CMS experiment

This event is organized primarily for PhD students and masters students, however, anyone is welcome to attend.  We expect to be able to accommodate up to about 40 participants in the full event. In the case that we can not accept all applications, preference will be given to PhD students from the surrounding region who are engaged in programs for high-energy physics, nuclear physics, astroparticle physics and data science pursuits.

Last date of registration was Thursday, March 12, 2026.

Pre-school: All registered students will be invited to attend (optional) online pre-school lectures held between March 30 through April 10. The pre-school will cover topics necessary to be ready for the workshop (introductions to Python/Shell/Git/C++, etc). Participation in the in-person workshop at IISER-Pune will be by invitation only based on the registration requests received.

Feel free to contact us in case of questions. Limited financial support for accommodation may be available upon request (not guaranteed right now); however, no support is available for travel expenses.

This event is supported by IISER-Pune and the U.S. National Science Foundation grant OISE-2201990.
