Description

The measurement of the WW diboson production cross section in protonproton interactions is reported from the ATLAS experiment. The analysis requires heavy bosons to decay leptonically, using ee, emu and mumu final states associated with large missing energy. The data are used to test the electroweak sector of the Standard Model and search for evidence for new phenomena. The cross section results are first obtained in phase space regions defined by the decay kinematics and then extrapolated to the full phase space. Differential and total cross sections for WW production are compared to NLO predictions of the standard model and used to place constraints on anomalous triplegaugeboson couplings.
