Instructions for posters

Instructions for posters

The poster session is an essential component of the EPS HEP conference. Posters are both a good complement to the oral presentations in the parallel sessions and a good opportunity for exposure for younger scientists. This year, a total of up to 200 posters will be on display, and each poster will be guaranteed a 2 page contribution in the conference proceedings to be published by "Proceedings of Science (PoS)".

The posters will be on display for the entire duration of the conference (i.e. both during parallel sessions at the KTH Campus and during the plenary session at the Aula Magna on the Stockholm University Campus).

Poster size

The poster format size is strictly portrait A0. Poster presenters are kindly asked to bring with them an A0 printed copy of their posters as no poster printers will be available at the conference venues.

Poster installation

Poster installation will commence on Thursday July 18, 2013 in the morning at the KTH Campus.

Poster rooms at the KTH Campus for the different sessions are the following:

E34: QCD
E35: Higgs and New Physics
D34: Top and Electroweak Physics, Ultrarelativistic Heavy Ions, Detector R&D and data handling, Accelerators
D35: Astroparticle Physics, Flavour Physics and Fundamental Symmetries, Cosmology and Gravity, Neutrino Physics

On Saturday July 20, 2013 the posters will be taken down by the local organizers.

On Monday July 22, 2013 the posters will be reinstalled by the local organizers at the Aula Magna.

Poster floors at the Aula Magna for the different sessions are the following:

Floor 4: QCD, Higgs and New Physics
Floor 5: Top and Electroweak Physics, Ultrarelativistic Heavy Ions, Detector R&D and data handling, Accelerators, Astroparticle Physics, Flavour Physics and Fundamental Symmetries, Cosmology and Gravity, Neutrino Physics

On Wednesday July 24, 2013 in the afternoon, the dismounting of the poster by their presenters have to take place.

Poster sessions

There will be two dedicated poster sessions:

(i) during parallel sessions on Friday July 19, 2013 between 16:30 and 17:00 and

(ii) during the plenary session on Tuesday 23, 2013 between 11:00 and 11:30.

Poster presenters are expected to be present at both dedicated poster sessions.

Poster prizes

There will be four "Elsevier Poster Prizes", which will consist of a certificate and a cash award. The prizes will be selected by a committee consisting of Prof. Thomas Lohse (EPS HEP secretary), Prof. Tommy Ohlsson from the Local Organizing Committee, Dr. Eleonora Presani from Elsevier, and finally the attending editors of the journals Nucl. Phys. A, Nucl. Phys. B (including Proc. Suppl.), and Phys. Lett. B. The prizes will be awarded on Wednesday July 24, 2013 at 11:30.

The prize winners are:
  • Karim Louedec for the poster "Radio-detection of extensive air showers at the Pierre Auger Observatory – Results and enhancements" (poster ID 156)
  • Sébastien Brochet for the poster "Search for t t-bar resonances below 1 TeV in lepton + jets events in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 8 TeV" (poster ID 504)
  • Katerina Lipka for the poster "Probing QCD with top-quark pairs at CMS" (poster ID 568)
  • Sam Meehan for the poster "Search for resonant ZZ -> llqq production using 7.2 fb^-1 of sqrt(s) = 8 TeV data at ATLAS" (poster ID 756)

Poster identification

The abstract numbers on Indico will also serve as the poster ID numbers, which will mark the poster display location.

Poster upload as PDF

Poster presenters are invited and encouraged to upload an electronic version of their posters (as PDF files) on the conference Indico site for public remote access. To upload a PDF file of your poster, please go to the following page:
https://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?ovw=True&confId=218030
Then, login in with the same login as you used to submit the poster abstract. Next, go to "My conference ---> My contributions". Click on the contribution, using the button "View". Finally, click on "Edit files ---> Add material", and upload the PDF file of your poster.

For poster presenters, who have not submitted their posters themselves: If you do not have an Indico CERN lightweight account, please create such an account following the instructions on the following page:
https://account.cern.ch/account/Externals/RegisterAccount.aspx
The poster presenter should then contact the conveners of the corresponding parallel session and ask them to add you as a poster presenter of your poster. Please indicate the Indico poster ID number of your poster to the conveners. After you have been added as the poster presenter of your poster, you should be able to upload your poster as a PDF file following the instructions given above.

Questions about posters

If you have any questions concerning the posters, please contact the conveners of the corresponding parallel sessions. A list with the conveners can be found on the following page:
