Description

The measurement of the ZZ diboson production cross section in 7 and 8 TeV protonproton interactions is reported from the ATLAS experiment. The measurement is derived using purely leptonically decaying bosons with electrons, muons, and missing energy in the final state. The data are used to test the electroweak sector of the Standard Model and search for evidence for new phenomena. The cross section results are first obtained in phase space regions defined by the decay kinematics and then extrapolated to the full phase space. Differential and total cross sections for ZZ production are compared to NLO predictions of the standard model and used to place constraints on anomalous triplegaugeboson couplings.
