Transport & Accommodation (incl. shuttle service and CERN access)

The workshop will take place at:

  • CERN (main auditorium bldg.500) on 24 June 2015. A shuttle will depart from the workshop location for the Best Western at 6pm.
  • The Best Western in Chavannes de Bogis (Les Champs-Blancs Best Western Hotel 1279 Chavannes-de-Bogis, Switzerland)  25 & 26 June 2015. A shuttle will be available as follow:
    • 25/06/2015 08:30 from CERN's main reception
    • 25/06/2015 22:00 from Chavannes-de-Bogis to CERN
    • 26/06/2015 08:15 from CERN's main reception
    • 26/06/2015 15:45 from Chavannes-de-Bogis to CERN

Visitors access cards will be available from CERN's reception desk (bldg. 33) during working hours and from Gate B outside working hours.

TRANSPORT

Travelling by Plane

Coming from the Geneva International Airport at Cointrin

Taxi - approximately 35CHF.

Bus - First take a free public transport ticket from the machine you will find at the exit to the baggage collection hall, just before customs control. Then -

Option 1: Take bus Y direction "CERN" and get off at the CERN stop opposite the large Globe and the CERN site.

Option 2: take bus 23, 28, 57, and get off at the stop "Blandonnet" and then catch the Tram number 18, final stop "CERN".

Travelling by Train

Coming from the Geneva railway station at Cornavin

Tram - Take the number 18 tram to "CERN" which is the final stop at the CERN entrance.

Travelling by Car

From Switzerland:

Follow signs for "Aéroport", "Lyon" and "Meyrin". Once you are in Meyrin, follow signs for "St Genis" (which is just beyond the border, in France). Before reaching St Genis, the CERN site is on your left on "Route de Meyrin", just before you reach the border.

From France (département of Ain):

Follow signs for "Gex" or "St. Genis". When you reach the border, CERN is on your right immediately after passing through customs.

ACCOMODATION

-The CERN hostel is fully booked for the month of June and people wishing to stay at the hostel are requested to put their name on a waiting list.

-Best Western: A limited number of room are available for the period of the workshop (150 CHF/night + city tax 3 CHF per person per day including breakfast) . If you would like to book a room please contact Laurie Hemery

Travelling by Car


Follow the Highway A1 Geneva-Lausanne and take exit  10 Coppet - Divonne. Take the direction Coppet. After the highway bridge, take teh first exit to the right at the roundabout. Follow the "les Champs Blancs" street till the end.

Travelling by Plane

For the people staying at the Best Western, a free shuttle is available between the airport and the hotel is available free of charge upon request. Please contact the hotel directly to place your request.
