  • First experiment starting in May 2015
  • Improved monitoring expected from Q4

Requirements based on uncertainty

  • Varying beam trajectory from the SPS extraction
  • Propose BPM for experiment correlation

Additional BPMs requested by

  • HRMT 27, HRMT 23, +2 more
  • Request for 100um position resolution (alignment done by survey)

Beam type

  • Single bunch or batches of 25 or 50ns @ 440GeV
  • 1->288 bunches

Requirement

  • Monitor to be in air (strip-line coupler only choice - BPKG)
  • Measurement of single pulses
    • Bunch by bunch acquisition not required
    • Single bunch requested
  • Beam based alignment could be considered

Infrastructure available

  • Cabling from TNC to HRM control room

Timescale

  • Request to be available by August 2015

BI Proposal:

  • Combine BTV with BPM on same support.
  • BTV to be used for beam-based alignment of BPM at low intensity or large emittance (choice of BTV screen material to be decided - carbon?)
  • Design common table that can be re-used by all expts may be challenging
  • Thibaut to collect following information for presentation in 2 weeks:
    • Cost of BPM & BTV
    • Cabling and fibres required (available?)
    • Design work required - coordinated with Ray & MME

2) LHC BI Status Update

  • Hardware installation basically complete for main systems
  • SW to be discussed in separate meeting (Enrico, L. Jensen)
  • BRAN: several VME power supply failures (probably cumulated since start of LS1)
    • Christos to update planning for power supply replacement to be presented at future TB after discussion with L. Søby
    • Fan-trays to be replaced by LS2
  • Timber logging of SDDS
    • Not automatic - L. Jensen to check and report back
    • Logging alive? - software tools to check - S. Jackson / JJ. Gras
  • BBQ
    • GUI SW - Fabio. E. Bravin to check status
  • DCCT
    • Problem with MTT transmission. Being investigated with P. Odier
    • Expert GUI tools being written (M. Ludwig)
  • Fast BCT
    • System commissioning D. Belohrad, S. B. Pedersen
  • BLM
    • Rad source measurements in triplets done
    • Question about when new firmware with DMA will be available (Christos?)
  • BPM
    • DOROS - 4 boxes mid March (Marek) - installation to be decided with Jorg
  • Abort Gap
    • Basic FESA functionality up and running
    • Calibration still to be included
  • Orbit & Tune feedback
    • Need input from S. Jackson - expect new system to be operational very soon
  • BRAN
    • HW nearly all installed
    • FESA servers still to be ported - expect functionality like before LS1
  • BSRT
    • Imaging all installed
    • FESA has been updated following meeting with Federico/Ana et al
    • System commissioning to be done
  • Wirescanner
    • HW installation complete
    • WS GUI being updated by Verena & Maria Kuhn - to be tested

Non Critical Items

  • BSRT Interferometer - camera still to be installed.
    • No software specification - PM expert tools to be used
  • BLDM
    • New Hybrid APD ordered & new crates being installed.
    • No sopftware specifications available - split of devices B1/B2 expected
    • Expert GUI to be updated (specifications pending)
  • BQHT
    • FESA server working & BI/SW Expert GUI available
    • Instability triggering requirements to be clarified (T. Levens)
    • Operational GUI to be defined once use-case clear
  • BMIM
    • Installation foreseen for technical stop
  • Schottky
    • Old systems up and running
    • Expert GUI specifications from M. Wendt et al pending (J. Fullerton)

LHC Commissioning & MD Planning

MD Requests received so far:

  • BSRT & WCM with bumps
  • BPMs & schottky
  • BLM sunglasses
  • Matching monitors
  • List from Rossano (cold check-out) & Jorg (Commissioning) to be presented by Enrico at future TB or Friday update Meeting

Sector test instrumentation appears to be OK - would be useful to document what should be tested when the final schedule is available (LHC injection, ring, extraction) - Enrico et al.

3) VFC Status

  • VFC-HD - High pin-count DDR!  (official BI name: BEVFC-HD)

  • Design complete

  • EDMS import underway - estimate is that it will take 4 weeks

  • If Norcott produce then mid May for delivery of prototypes of new boards

Proposal for short-term

  • Produce 31 boards (using all available FPGAs in stock).
  • Produce all PCBs & order components
  • Mount 2 - deliver & test - then go-ahead for rest

Status of ADC

  • Needs external, synchronous low jitter clocks (= sampling clock/4)
  • Serial data in 4 lanes. 500MHz -> 4 lanes @ 5GHz
  • Can talk to ADC but no serial data received yet
