Detailed analysis
The focus on the current status will be on gLite, but other middlewares will be also mentioned. The presentation will explain the gLite security mechanisms for the user, in particular authentication and authorization mechanisms.
We will explain how PKI has enabled the emergence of the Grid. However, there is also agreement that in many areas improvements are necessary. The use of PKI is for many users not straightforward and certificates are hard to understand. The user may also be not aware of security implications of various actions that he performs. The talk will also contain some recommendations what users should do and what to avoid.
In the outlook we will present current developments in the area of other security models such as Federated Identity and how they may impact the Grid community from the user's point of view.
