Description

We present new integrated services offered by VisIVO, a framework for exploration of large-scale scientific datasets. . We show new features of the recently developed VisIVO Server, a command line application for intuitive visual discovery with 3D views being created from data tables.A grid version is ported and deployed in the Cometa Consortium GRID, and can run on worker nodes of this computational grid.

Impact

The grid we use is the Cometa Consortium grid (PI2S2 project).This procedure allows the user to create 3D views of data produced during a run in the grid environment or stored in the grid catalogue. The submission of a jdl file command containing the script to start VisIVO Server will allow the user to automatically create 3D images of data, that can be downloaded in the Output Sandbox or saved in the Grid catalogue.
Demo scripting shell and executables for the Cometa PI2S2 worker node can be downloaded from the VisIVO grid section. Demo Data are also available. VisIVO Server will be installed in some WNs of the Cometa grid, but can also be sent to the Input Sandbox.

Justification for delivering demo and technical requirements (ONLY for demonstrations)

I prefer to use my laptop (with all the software already installed)

Conclusions and Future Work

VisIVO and VisIVOServer, are useful for data analysis and visualization, especially when working with large-scale, complex datasets. They can be closely integrated, but are also complementary and independent of each other. The user can use for example VisIVOServer to create a preview of his/her data or an appropriately-defined subsample, then employ VIsIVO to visualize and interact with such a subsample.

Detailed analysis

VisIVO Server represent one important tools for data display on the grid infrastructure.Its defining characteristic is support for very large data sizes with no fixed
limit on dimensions. We also demonstrate the VisIVO Server Website that will allow users to upload their own datasets for analysis and exploration.VisIVO Server can create a 3D view from data tables. It is open-source software available for GNU/Linux. The defining characteristic of VisIVOServer is the support for very large-scale datasets. No limits (in principle) are prescribed for data visualization and the forthcoming version will also provide support for FITS and HDF5 among other popular formats.
The VisIVOServer application is composed of three distinct software modules as follows:
1) VisIVOImporter;
2) VisIVOFilters;
3) VisIVOViewer.
