Radioactive Nuclear Beams will be the tool of choice for nuclear physics and nuclear astrophysics for the beginning of the 21st century. The challenging task is to make secondary beams of very unstable nuclei with intensities that could approach those of today's stable beams (EURISOL proposal). Among the most interesting beams are the neutron-rich fission fragments. Their production is envisaged using fast neutrons interacting with uranium or other fissile targets. This technique relies on a high intensity proton accelerator. An alternative method is based on high-energy gamma radiation to induce photofission. IPN Orsay has installed the detector PARRNe-1 in the 50 MeV electron beam of the LEP-injector. Data of high quality have been obtained and will be presented. The two methods of production will be compared and an outlook of the perspectives will be given.
