The talk gives an overview of current experimental and theoretical work on cryogenic safety in the frame of a collaboration between KIT and CERN. In addition, the activities to organize a working group at the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) is presented, which will work on a European standard on safety of liquid helium cryostats.
