Description
In the frame of Future Launchers Preparatory Programme (FLPP) part of ESA- Launcher Directorate, dedicated development is oriented on cryogenic upper stage technologies. The aim is to identify and develop enabling technologies for re-ignitable cryogenic upper-stages. The presentation will recall the technological domains of interest for future launchers followed by a detailed overview of the developments performed on propellant management, propellant settlement, sloshing suppression. The technologies developed will be presented together with the test performed. The propellant management devise, using the basket concept and LN2 as fluid, was tested in microgravity by the means of a sounding rocket. The sounding rocket flight and the results will be presented.
