Description

The visit circuit is including four installations:
- The cryogenic systems at LHC point 1.8. The upper 18 kW cold-box, and its corresponding compressor station as well as two 125 m3 liquid helium storage tanks will be visited;
- The CERN Large Magnet Facility (building 180) where one can have a look at the large magnet repair and construction facilities at CERN;
- The Central Cryogenic Laboratory (building 165). During the visit one can have a look at normal helium, in a glass cryostat, being brought to its superfluid state. Several experiments with superfluid helium will be performed;
- The Superconducting Cable Test Facility (building 163) will provide an introduction to the cryogenic superconducting wire and cable test facilities.
