How to connect via Vidyo

Please download the Vidyodesktop client at https://vidyoportal.cern.ch, install and run.

In your browser click on the autojoin URL (or ‘join’ button on the Indico page) which will be made available ahead of time.

It is not necessary to login to the client before but if you do, you will need to enter the Vidyoportal address above the login name, which is https://vidyoportal.cern.ch Logging in at this stage requires CERN authentication.

The Vidyo desktop client must be running before clicking on an autojoin URL (or ‘join’ button on the Indico page), or you will be prompted to reinstall the client. After clicking on the ‘join’ or URL, you will be prompted to login with a ‘guest’ name of your choice. By clicking on the ‘join as registered user’ at the bottom of the window, you can login with CERN authentication.

If you need to give a presentation or ask questions, you may need to unmute your mic from the tool bar.

Linux users please use the webrtc client at https://vidyowebrtc.web.cern.ch – You need to enter the autojoin URL of the meeting (can be found by clicking on the name of the Vidyo room in the Indico agenda) and a ‘guest’ name, and you will be asked to authorise access to your mic and camera.

If you have problems connecting, possibly due to firewall issues, go to config/network and tick ‘always use Vidyoproxy’ and retry. If this fails, please try the webrtc client as mentioned above, it also works on Mac and Windows.

Other alternative methods of connection are;

H.323 equipment – Dial the CERN or U.S. gateway on 188.184.66.56 or 207.75.165.84 then enter the extension of the Vidyo room followed by # (extension can be found by clicking on the Vidyo room name on the Indico agenda)

Phone – Call one of the phone bridges available here - http://information-technology.web.cern.ch/services/fe/howto/users-join-vidyo-meeting-phone (the French phone bridge is down for the moment) then, when prompted, enter the extension of the meeting followed by # (extension can be found by clicking on the Vidyo room name on the Indico agenda)

To test your connection you can use the Vidyo Café room, where you will receive a video stream, audio stream and a return of your own mic’s audio;

Vidyo desktop or Vidyowebrtc - https://vidyoportal.cern.ch/join/hsjT7YiPtmp7

H.323 – Gateway IP address then extension 10080018#

Phone – Phone bridge number from the list, then extension 10080018#
