Travel and accommodation

Travel

Paris can easily be reached from mostly anywhere around the globe. The easiest way to get there is by plane, arriving either at the Charles-de-Gaulle airport or at the Orly airport (Ryanair flies to Beauvais, about 80 km from Paris). Alternatively, participants can come by train.

Arriving at the Charles-de-Gaulle airport.

All the airport terminals are connected to Paris downtown by the B line of the RER (direction Robinson, Antony, St-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse). Follow the "Paris by train" signs at the airport (you may have to take an internal shuttle at the airport depending on your arrival terminal).

Tickets (10.30 euros) must be purchased at the airport, before boarding the train. Vending machines are available, but beware the queues (and only credit cards with a chip being accepted).

Taxis to downtown have a fixed price of 50 or 55 euros depending on your destination, and can take from 40 minutes to one hour or more during rush time.

Arriving at the Orly airport.

From your arrival terminal, you have to take the shuttle "Orlyval" (air train). This takes you to the Antony station where you can take the RER B line to downtown Paris (direction Aeroport Charles-de-Gaulle, Mitry).

Tickets (12.10 euros) must be purchased at the booth before boarding the Orlyval.

Taxis to downtown have a fixed price of 30 or 35 euros depending on your destination. The trip takes about half an hour.

Arriving by train

Paris is also well connected to the neighbouring countries. Trains usually arrive at one of the main train stations inside Paris (Gare du Nord, Gare de l'Est, Gare Montparnasse and Gare de Lyon are the most common ones).

Once you are in Paris

Once you are in Paris, the Jussieu campus is located on the lines 7 and 10 of the Metro. If you arrive by plane and take the RER B line, a connection between the B line and the Metro 10 is possible in "Saint-Michel Notre Dame". Alternatively, you can exit in "Luxembourg" and take a 15 minute walk to the campus.

Accommodation

There are many hotels in the area of the Jussieu campus (all well within walking distance). Below is a list of hotels which are recommended by the University. Note that no pre-booking has been made, so it is advised to make accommodation plans as early as possible as Paris can be busy in the summer.
