Description
Despite the successes of the Standard Model, the QCD-based nature of the strong interaction is insufficiently understood. The antiProton ANnihilations at DArmstad (PANDA) aims to shed light on the nature of the strong interactions by investigating with a versatile detector annihilation of cooled antiprotons stored at the High Energy Storage Ring (HESR) at the future Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR). Employment of the aniproton annihilations allows direct population of high-spin and exotic states while cooling of the beams provides possibility for precise measurements of resonances line-shape, which is one of the key properties required for understanding of the states nature. This contribution will focus on the physics goals which will be targeted during the first years of operation of the experiment.
