Description

Goals

  • REVIEW OF EXPERIMENTAL INPUT FROM THE TEVATRON
    • cover present results, and prospects for further analysis of tevatron data  
  • REVIEW OF THEORY STATUS, AND PREDICTIONS FOR THE LHC
    • cover pt spectra and polarization, status of NLO results, turn best-fits of tevatron/hera data into best predictions for LHC, and present benchmark expectations
  • REVIEW OF AVAILABLE TOOLS
    • list existing codes for cross-section calculations, as well as event generators.
    • Validate the results of event generators (e.g. pythia) against tevatron data, or against the inclusive cross-section calculations.
    • Discuss impact of higher-order effects induced by the shower, effects of hadronization, etc.  
  • PROPOSALS FOR NEW USEFUL OBSERVABLES, to complement pt and polarization
    • discuss observables like track multiplicities, energy flows around the J/psi, etc.
    • discuss value of comparisons between measurements at different CM energies, and impact of data in different pt and eta ranges on the understanding of the production mechanisms
    • etc.
