Description

The purpose of this workshop is to stimulate discussions between experimentalists and theorists in forward hadronic physics, QCD dynamics at low-x, diffractive processes, parton saturation effects and exciting problems in cosmic ray physics.

The discussions will focus on the present experiments at the CERN Large Hadron Collider and the BNL Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider, the physics potential of the future U.S. Electron Ion Collider, as well as present and future Cosmic ray physics experiments. All sessions will consist of plenary talks.

This workshop follows the series of meetings held in Nagoya, Japan (2015), Nagoya Japan (2017), and Stony Brook, New York (2018).

The event will take place in the colonial city of Guanajuato, Mexico, from November 18th through November 21st 2019 (Monday through Thursday). The venue will be Hotel Guanajuato. Please book your accommodation as soon as possible! There is limited availability.

To reach Guanajuato, one can fly to the International Airport of León, Guanajuato (BJX), and the city of Guanajuato is a 45 min. drive away from the BJX airport. If you are flying from the US or from Europe, there are many connecting flights from Dallas, TX (DFW), Houston, TX (IAH), Los Angeles (LAX) or from Chicago (MDW) to BJX. If a flight to León, Guanajuato is not feasible, you can fly to Guadalajara International Airport (GDL) or to Mexico City International Airport (MEX), and then take a bus to León, Guanajuato or to the city of Guanajuato directly, which can take around 4 hours.

The topics discussed during the workshop are:

  • Low-x, parton saturation, and heavy-nuclei.
  • Photon-exchange, pomeron exchange, and hard diffraction.
  • Total cross section and soft diffraction.
  • Spin, generalized parton distribution functions, and transverse momentum dependent PDFs.
  • Physics with heavy flavors.
  • Relationship between the initial-state and quark-gluon plasma.
  • Cosmic ray physics and neutrinos.
  • Future experiments and instrumentation.

There will be dedicated Proceedings for the workshop, which will be processed at the University of Kansas.

1800 mexican pesos for undergraduate, MSc or PhD students.

Standard registration fees from October 26th onwards:

5500 mexican pesos for general participants.

The registration fee covers coffee breaks, meals, workshop dinner and conference room in Hotel Guanajuato.
