How to get to CERN

From Geneva Airport Cointrain and Airport Railway Station

Regular CERN shuttle service MEYRIN - AIRPORT (link is external) (except Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays)
If the shuttle service has no driver available or outside normal working hours you can request a taxi (link is external). (For professional trips taxi vouchers can be obtained). Taxis are available at approximately 48.00 CHF.

For Public Transport, take a free ticket from the vending machine in the Airport baggage collection hall, on the right side, just before customs control.

If you arrived by train you have to buy a ticket (prize CHF 3.50) at the bus stop.

From Geneva City Railway Station at Cornavin

Take Tram No. 18 → CERN (link is external) to CERN which is the final stop between CERN Globe and Reception.
Purchase a "Tout Genève" ticket (3 CHF full-fare / 2 CHF reduced-fare) BEFORE entering the tram at vending machines (cash and credit card).

Arriving by car

  • From Switzerland
    From Geneva, follow signs for Aéroport then Meyrin.
    From A1 highway, take Exit 5 Meyrin, direction Meyrin.
    Once in Meyrin Village, follow signs for St. Genis and take the tunnel.
    800m after the tunnel, at the roundabout before the Globe, park on the right-hand side car park.

  • From France (département of Ain)
    Follow signs for St. Genis then Genève.
    Once you have passed the border, at the roundabout after the Globe, park on the left-hand side car park.

  • Parking
    Visitors can park freely at the car park located next to the Globe of Science and Innovation.
    Gate will open automatically after car plate reading (valid only for one day).
    In case of problem, call the guards with the "CSA" button on intercom.
    Bus drivers should park at the bus car park at the end and get an "official visit" sign from the reception to be placed behind windscreen.
